2024 YMCAKPT Annual Impact

EVERYWHERE YOU GO, THERE'S A Y!

The Greater Kingsport Family YMCA's Year End Impact Report 2024

Dear Friends

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Thank you all so much for a fantastic year. It is because of you, your generous gifts of your time, talent, and financial support, that the Greater Kingsport Family YMCA can be a force for good with a positive impact in our many communities across northeast Tennessee this year.

We will begin our 2025 Annual Giving Campaign in early February, and I am reminded of the critical role you each play in sharing the Y’s impact. Your support with this annual campaign is making it possible for the Y to ensure that no one is turned away due to the inability to afford our services and that our funding gap is closed so we can continue offering life changing outreach programs. Annually, the campaign will support thousands of youth, families and individuals through character and life skill building Y programs that help all to learn, grow and thrive. More importantly, through your sharing of the Y story, you are perpetuating the cause and mission of our organization. Knowledge is so powerful to spread the word of goodwill.

Your financial support and cultivation efforts ensure that the Y can say “yes” to serving where others say “no” in part to lack of funds. You make it possible to provide affordable, accessible programs to all members of our community. We are confident that you will continue to help us grow together in 2025!

With sincere gratitude,

January Tankersley

Senior Director of Development
Kingsport Family YMCA

THANK YOU TO OUR ANNUAL GIVING CAMPAIGN COMMUNITY PARTNERS IN 2024

The YMCA understands that lasting personal and social change only happens when the community works together. Everything we do is grounded in meeting the unique needs of the communities we serve – and we can’t do it alone. We place immense value on the local collaborations and partnerships we forge to ensure all people and communities thrive. Through their gifts, volunteerism and advocacy our community partners are powerfully investing in our youth and families who are in greatest need.

Rock Springs Impact Story 2024

When Juan came to us in August, he spoke very little English. He struggled to communicate, preferred to play alone, and tended to wonder off.

Just three months later, he has made so much progress! He asks so many questions and speaks up for himself when he needs things. His favorite question lately has been, “Can I eat?” when all the snack has been passed out. He understands the routine. He has recently started calling his counselors and friends by name. He plays well with others and has made friends with just about every person in the program. He’s a completely different child than he was just a few short months ago. Today, he earned a ticket for our weekly and monthly drawing for prizes. He cleaned up his toys and put them away without being asked (which as you all know is huge for any child)! So, here are your words of encouragement for this evening. As you sit and reflect on your day. All the things that could have gone differently. All of the highs and lows. Just remember the impact that you’re making on these kids. Whether it be big or small, you are making a difference in so many little lives!

+ 4 Summer Camp locations across 3 districts gave 478 (unduplicated) Campers the Best Summer in 2024.
