Group Exercise


From low-impact exercise, fun cardio classes, stretching and strength training to indoor cycling, and yoga, the Y has an option to help you reach your health and wellness goals. Classes are a great way to meet other members and build community within the group. With your membership, you get to try all the classes for FREE and find the best classes that fits your needs. All classes can be modified to meet you at your fitness journey.  Below, you can find a description for our classes. CARDIO AND STRENGTH TRAINING CLASS DESCRIPTIONS +

CARDIO AND STRENGTH TRAINING CLASSES 

HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) or Interval classes are a total body, heart pumping, aerobic and strength conditioning workout. This interval-based class combines full-body strength training with high intensity cardio bursts designed to tone your body, improve your endurance and clear your mind before the busy days get started. Modifications for all fitness levels are provided, as in all classes.  Tabata intervals will follow a specific format of 20 seconds of all-out work, 10 seconds of rest, repeated 8 times for 4 minutes total.

RIP

The total body "plateau proof fitness formula" workout, utilizing resistance and cardio training, which combines Resistance, Intervals, Power, and Plyometrics helps you attain and maintain your physique in ways that are fun, safe, doable and extremely effective.

Step

Step aerobics is a form of aerobic power distinguished from other types of aerobic exercise by its use of an elevated platform (the step). The height can be tailored to individual needs by inserting or removing risers under the step. 

Bootcamp

High Intensity cardio in quick bursts to keep the heart rate going!  Modifications will be shown, but expect to be pushed hard!

Hard “CORE”

Join us for a class dedicated to your core!  Strengthen and tone those abs in this killer workout, strictly devoted to the midsection!

Pop HIIT

Combining choreographed aerobic/strength moves with awesome music will have you forgetting you are even working out!  High Intensity Interval Training meets QUAKE/Hip Hop!

Express Tabata 

Interval training class using only the 20/10 Tabata training protocol!

HIIT: High Intensity Interval Training

A total body workout,  with instructors switching up the class format constantly.  Expect a lot of great changes to keep the body guessing what is coming next!  Combines Strength, Cardio, and Core.

Looking for a “back to basics” approach, or little to no impact?  Check out one of our many “Lite” classes.  Perfect for members that are new or returning to exercise, or who may be unsure about a specific class or format!  

 
SILVER & FIT® Classic, Cardio, and Balance and Core Lite: Senior Fitness

Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and small exercise balls to add resistance. Chairs are available if needed for seated or standing support.

STRENGTH TRAINING CLASS DESCRIPTIONS +

STRENGTH TRAINING

Work your muscles in every way possible in this class designed to build strength, add definition, increase your bone density, and decrease your body fat by increasing your lean muscle. Research has proven that by adding lean muscle to the body you can speed up your metabolism and burn more calories when you work out and at rest. You will use hand weights, plate loaded barbells, tubing and your own body weight to change the shape of your body. No muscle gets neglected in this class!  Utilizing only strength based exercises, little to no cardio will be completed.  We also offer RIP, which is similar to Les Mills Bodypump®…which is a pre-choreographed barbell class which changes every month.

Strength & Sculpt

This weight-based class will feature exercises/formats that incorporate toning and abs.  Little or no cardio, so you can focus on those trouble zones, and find a suitable modification if needed.  

Core & MORE

A class dedicated to your core!  Strengthen and tone those abs in this killer workout, strictly devoted to the midsection!

Barre 

Combines pilates, yoga, and ballet moves to give you beautiful, sculpted, lean muscles- without the impact of traditional dancing. 

RIP

This pre-choreographed weighted bar routine will accomplish muscle fatigue with tons of killer reps! 

 

CYCLING CLASS DESCRIPTIONS +

CYCLING

Indoor cycling classes or “Spinning” classes use light and music settings to create an energized atmosphere.  Instructors guide participants through workout phases. Warm-up, steady up tempo cadences, sprints, climbs, cool-downs, etc.  You control resistance on your bike to make the pedaling as easy or difficult as you choose. Constant adjustment is normal.  All you'll need is workout clothes, a towel, and a water bottle.  Stationary bikes have toe clips so you can wear tennis shoes. But our pedals also work with SPD cleats. This is the only type of class that requires registration. 

Power Cycle

Join us for a 30 minute Cycle class guaranteed to feel like a full hour!  Intervals, Sprints, Climbs, anything goes! REGISTRATION REQUIRED OUTSIDE THE CYCLE STUDIO 30 MIN. PRIOR TO CLASS.

Cycling

A 45 min. high energy class using stationary bikes and motivating music that gives you an efficient and challenging cardiovascular workout.  REGISTRATION REQUIRED OUTSIDE THE CYCLE STUDIO 30 MIN. PRIOR TO CLASS.

Parkinson's Cycle

This cycle class is specifically tailored for people with Parkinson's disease. This class has been medically proven to help reduce symptoms over time, and is for all levels of Parkinson's patients.

QUAKE, DANCE FIT, LINE DANCING AND HIP HOP CLASS DESCRIPTIONS +

QUAKE, DANCE FIT, LINE DANCING, AND HIP HOP 

Why workout when you can DANCE! With dance classes, you can just lose yourself in the music and find yourself in shape.  Dance workout classes feature exotic rhythms and high-energy international beats. Before you know it, you’ll be getting fit and your energy levels will be soaring.  Try out Line Dancing, Hip Hop or our very own high energy dance craze, QUAKE, or Quick Unbelievable Aerobic Kinetic Energy.

Q.U.A.K.E

Quick Unbelievable Aerobic Kinetic Energy!  Think about this as dance class meets cardio interval insanity!  High cardio Hip Hop and Latin songs will be combined with explosive cardio intervals for the ultimate “fun” burn! 

Dance Fit

Have fun and get a great cardio workout. Dance to all types of music from Pop, Hip Hop, and Latin. Come join us for this great fun filled cardio workout. No dance experience needed, great for all fitness levels. 

Line Dancing

Is an easy way to have fun while you exercise your body and your mind. This class will focus on move than just learning dances- it incorporates variations, choreography, plus much more. 

Hip Hop

This cardio dance class will focus strictly on the combinations of crazy cardio moves and hip hop routines!  New and current music, along with some old favorites!

Pop HIIT

Combining choreographed aerobic/strength moves with awesome music will have you forgetting you are even working out! High intensity Interval Training meets QUAKE/Hip Hop!

YOGA CLASS AND DEEP STRETCHING DESCRIPTIONS +

YOGA AND DEEP STRETCHING 

Calm the mind and spirit with our variety of Yoga classes.  These classes will focus on deep muscle stretching, and in some cases, powerful poses and exercises to improve balance and muscle strength and flexibility.  We offer a variety of class types including:  Yoga, Gentle Flow Yoga, and more.  Please check a current schedule for complete descriptions of each class and format.  All mats/props are provided at the Y.

Yoga

Learn and master movements that serve to increase blood flow, balance, flexibility, strength, relaxation and mind-body connection. 

Gentle Flow Yoga 

Much like Power Flow, but suited for even the most beginner Yoga participant.

Restore and Deep Stretch Yoga

Is a combination of Yin Yoga poses, along with deep stretching to promote flexibility and relaxation. Rollers may be incorporated for myofascial release. Great for beginners and athletes. 

Deep Stretch

A class for all levels with the intention of allowing muscles to relax and lengthen. Focus on predominately on stretching, releasing tight muscles, and tendons. Deep stretch takes strain off of the skeletal system. A great way to end your day.
