Welcome to the Greater Kingsport Family YMCA Bright Beginnings program at Brighter Horizons! Bright Beginnings provides a safe place for your child to grow, make friends, create, learn, explore, and be empowered throughout the year. At Bright Beginnings, children will have the opportunity to experience engaging, enriching, and physical activities that encourage them to try new things and be active. Through guided play and exploration, children learn to respect themselves and others, work out their differences, and discover the value of friendship.

The program fees listed in this section pertain to programming from August to May. Bright Beginnings is proud to offer summer programming in June and July. Information about that program is made available each spring.

- All program fees are subject to change.
- Bright Beginnings fees are collected by draft. Draft forms are available at Brighter
Horizons or by emailing the Childcare Registrar. - Bank or credit card drafts are a CONTINUOUS, perpetual draft that ends when the
enrolled childcare program concludes. - Drafts may be paid by bank account (checking/saving) or credit card (Master Card,
Visa, American Express, or Discover). - No refunds will be given on unscheduled closures, early dismissals, or late openings.
- Draft information may be updated online, and additional instructions are available.

All payments will be drafted the week prior to the child participant’s scheduled attendance. For summer programming, the parent’s account will be drafted the Friday before the program period begins.For stop payments and participant withdrawal from the program, the parent/guardian must inform the Childcare Registrar in writing two weeks prior to payment. If the parent/guardian does not inform the Childcare registrar of these changes, the YMCA reserves the right to continue to draft payment, with the parent/guardian then being responsible for any outstanding balance.
Reimbursement are not available should the parent/guardian not send the child due to illness, change of plans, etc.
Refunds will not be given due to unscheduled closures, early dismissals, or late openings.
Financial Assistance
Rhonda Helton Childcare Scholarship:
- Assistance will be awarded strictly on financial need on the basis of gross household income, household size, and taking into consideration extenuating circumstances such as excessive medical expenses, job loss, caring for family members, loss of home, etc. The YMCA will determine assistance eligibility based on current poverty standards.
- Financial assistance for programs will be granted on a per-program basis each year or cycle according to budget allowance. At the end of this program period, applicants must reapply to be considered for continued assistance.
- After financial assistance has been awarded, the Rhonda Helton Childcare Scholarship program participants must make payments as scheduled on time or program privileges may be terminated.
