HYPE Camp offers nine weeks of fun and games!  Students receive breakfast, lunch, and snacks every day, and there are field trips on Friday.  Camp runs for 7:00 am - 6:00 pm.  Come all nine weeks, or pick the weeks that work for you.  Financial assistance is available to those who qualify.

This summer is all about getting you GAME ON! HYPE (Helping Youth Pursue Excellence) Camp is filled with cool and exciting activities and trips, so your middle schooler (rising 6th-8th grader) won't feel like they're at a day camp. They'll be in a safe atmosphere where they can thrive with positive, fun, and energetic role models. A healthy lifestyle will also be emphasized through traditional games, sports, and activities. The goal is to keep these tweens and teens active by involving them in weekly service learning and leadership experiences. HYPE Campers get to go on a field trip or go swimming and participate in a weekly service learning project. Two snacks and a lunch are offered each day.

CAMP IRONWOOD

The Wacky Adventures of Professor.I.Can.Travel.Alot
Get ready to travel back through time in the Professor's magical time machine! A fun, dynamic program for rising 1st-5th graders, Professor I.Can.Travel.Alot will take your camper on adventures in 9 different eras, exploring their individual potential. Every day holds endless possibilities as they build new friendships, enjoy the great outdoors, get active, create crafts, and sing songs. Each week, campers have a field trip or go swimming one day. Two snacks and a lunch are offered each day. The Y has 1 counselor for every 14 kids. •spaces will be limited.

BRIGHTER HORIZONS SUMMER CAMP INFO +

Brighter Horizons Summer HYPE Camp offers a fun and creative educational option for students who have completed grades four, five, six, seven, and eight at Bulls Gap School, Church Hill Intermediate School, Church Hill Middle School, Rogersville City School, Rogersville Middle School, Surgoinsville Elementary School, and Surgoinsville Middle School. The YMCA has a 12:1 student to counselor ration; thus, space is limited.

The YMCA Brighter Horizons Center will be open from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
The only exceptions to this are Independence Day, Thursday 4 July 2024. 

There will be a charge for late pickups.
The fee for pickups within the first ten minutes (6:00 pm – 6:10 pm) is $5; from eleven minutes past the hour on, the fee is $1 per minute. (For example: A pickup at 6:20 pm would have a $10.00 fee.)

Students will receive breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack daily. Students are asked to bring a refillable water bottle with them each day.

Students will participate in a project-based learning activity, service activity, and field trip each week. All students are required to participate in all parts of the daily activities.

Financial assistance is available for qualified applicants and is based on financial need.  A financial assistance application must be completed and proof of low-income status must be provided with the application.

REGISTRATION & WEEKLY FEE INFORMATION +

REGISTRATION & WEEKLY FEES

  • All students wishing to participate in summer programing MUST complete a Brighter Horizons Application.
  • There is a one-time registration fee of $40.00.
    The registration fee covers the paperwork processing, a t-shirt, a water bottle, and a drawstring bag.
    Students are expected to wear their t-shirts on Fridays for the weekly field trips.
  • Registration forms are due Friday, May 20, 2024.
  • The registration forms and fee must be submitted for each student participating.
  • Students may register for all weeks or specific weeks.

Proof of low-income status must be provided with the registration form for financial assistance.

Financial assistance is available for qualified applicants and is based on financial need.  A financial assistance application must be completed and proof of low-income status must be provided with the application

Acceptable documents include:
  • proof of Medicaid/TN Care
  • proof of SNAP/Families First benefits
  • proof of unemployment/zero income
  • proof of Section 8 or low-income housing
  • proof of Free/Reduced Lunch Program
  • Payment is based on registration, not attendance.
