Because of the unique relationship between the YMCA and the Kingsport Aquatic Center, Greater Kingsport YMCA members are able to enjoy access to all indoor and outdoor aquatics as a year-round membership benefit. Although separate entities, both organizations share the same roof, therefore providing important community offerings such as swimming lessons, water aerobics, lifeguard trainings, recreational aquatics and open swim.
The YMCA Membership Benefit: Aquatics
For a better understanding, the YMCA pays the City of Kingsport a portion of all membership revenue to ensure the members of the Greater Kingsport YMCA have access to use both the indoor and outdoor facilities of the Kingsport Aquatic Center; whether all or none of the membership base chooses to use the facilities. One of the many benefits to you is the ability to use land OR water in your wellness activities, family or personal recreation, and the access to an amazing resource in our community which has the capability to improve the quality of life in Kingsport and the surrounding area. As previously mentioned, you also have the benefit of paying the member rate for classes and programs offered by the KAC.
As a friendly reminder, because we are separate organizations with different staff, programs, and expectations, some facets of your experience may be different on each side of the facility. One example would be that the Y allows outside food and/or drink, but the KAC does not, giving the need to keep coolers and picnics on the Y side only. Please review the Know Before You Go page on their website or click on the Kingsport Aquatic Center Know Before You Go Link Below.
Thank you for taking the time to understand the aquatics and swimming opportunities available onsite of your YMCA. Please always seek answers from Y staff if you have other questions or concerns regarding this incredible benefit of membership.
Expectations
We would like to remind our members with the exception of the locker room, dry clothing (tops AND bottoms), and shoes are required inside of the Y premises at all times.
Close toed shoes, must be worn at all times when visiting the second floor of the Y.
Please take time to review the expectations and conduct of the Kingsport Aquatic Center. While you are welcome to bring food or drink into the Y, we ask you to please respect the rules of the Aquatic center. The Kingsport Aquatic Center does not allow ANY outside food or drinks onto the property (exception for food brought in conjunction with a private rental).
