Guest Passes

Guests must bring a form of Photo ID to be eligible for a YMCA Guest Pass at a cost of $5. Maximum of 3 Guest Passes per guest every calendar year. All money used on Guest Passes can be used toward joining fee.

MILITARY INCENTIVE

The Greater Family YMCA is proud to offer a Military Incentive for all active duty and veterans. Upon approval you will receive a 10% discount on your membership. To prove eligibility you must present your DD-214, your military ID or your Veterans ID. Incentive may not be combined with any other discount, promotion or incentive, See a Membership Representative for more information. 


 

GYM EXPECTATIONS

The gym is a shared space for all guests & members to enjoy activities such as; Group ex classes, Basketball, and Pickleball. Our Adventure Kids, Child Watch, Schools Out, and Summer Camp kids also get to use this space for games and activities as well. While you are enjoying the gym, we strive for a positive social experience, in a secure and happy environment. Our primary responsibilities are the emotional and physical safety of the members, and guest in our building. We strive to provide a warm and friendly environment where ALL can engage in a variety of activities.

What ages can attend?

  • 0 - 7 years: Must be accompanied by an adult 18+ at ALL times or be checked in to a scheduled activity. Not permitted in any Wellness areas.
  • 8 - 12 years: May use all wellness areas, except Wellness 1. Must complete a Youth Wellness Orientation prior to participation (15 minutes). Must remain within arm’s length of a parent or guardian at all times.
  • 13+ years: May use all wellness areas independently. No adult supervision required.
  • Youth members under the age of 13 are not allowed in the facility without a parent/guardian. Guest under the age of 18 are not permitted into the facility without parent/guardian.

How is discipline handled?

ALL members and guests will be held accountable for their actions as we expect our core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility to be exhibited at all times. If this is not the case the following will occur:

  1. Remind members/guest of expectations while utilizing the gym.
  2. Take 30 minutes on the sideline
  3. If any foul language is used, facility access will be removed for the remainder of the day.
  4. If there is physical aggression with staff, member, or guest, it will result in an automatically suspension from the Y for one week.
  5. Continued misbehavior can result in suspensions of 2 weeks, a month, or termination of membership.

The Y reserves the right to dismiss any person whose behavior is consistently disruptive or disrespectful towards other members/guests in the gym. Dismissal may be temporary or permanent.

Personal Items

  • No personal items such as wallets, phones, backpacks, or other electronic devices should be left unattended. It is not the Y’s responsibility to keep track of your personal items.
  • No food, snack, or drinks are permitted, including gum and candy. Water only.
  • Closed toed shoes, socks, and shirts are required for play.

 

SENIOR MEMBERSHIP OPTIONS

Seniors are a vital part of our membership. The Greater Kingsport YMCA is committed to providing the same level of service and classes, while increasing activity offerings for seniors. We would love for you to become or stay a member of the Y.

The options for a senior Y membership are below:

YMCA SENIOR MEMBERSHIPS (For Ages 65+)

A YMCA Senior Membership rate is $41/month and a $30 joining fee when you become a member.

If you cannot afford the full senior membership fee, please complete an Open Doors Financial Assistance application to see what financial assistance you may qualify for. The YMCA welcomes ALL who wish to participate and believes that no one should be denied access to the YMCA based on their ability to pay our full fees.

Silver&Fit® 

Potential members should contact their Medicare Advantage Plan representative to see if your plan offers the Silver&Fit® program and if you qualify.

Renew Active®   

The YMCA is a participating partner for Renew Active.

Renew Active is a fitness program for body and mind, exclusively from UnitedHealthcare® Medicare plans. Access to the YMCA will be a benefit of Renew Active.

OPEN DOOR SCHOLARSHIPS/FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE +

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

Financial assistance will be provided for anyone who meets the established income guidelines. Funds made available for financial assistance are provided through the YMCA's Annual Giving Campaign. Financial assistance is available for most programs offered by the Greater Kingsport Family YMCA, including membership.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Assistance will be awarded on the basis of financial need.
  • Scholarship eligibility will be reviewed every year or as deemed necessary.
  • Failure to list all income and verification statements will result in denial of financial assistance.
  • The Y strives to award financial assistance responsibly and for those primarily using the YMCA facility. We reserve the right to make subjective decisions to best support the mission of the Y.

HOW TO APPLY

Follow these instructions carefully to prevent delay in processing your application:

  1. Complete the Financial Assistance Application in full.
  2. Copy of page 1 and 2 of tax return (no other documentation is needed) 
  3. Return your completed application and all supporting income documentation to the Y.
  4. Someone will contact you within 5 business days regarding your qualification.

CYCLE STUDIO

Experience a variety of classes that can help improve endurance and cardiovascular health. Build strength and confidence in specialty programs like Parkinson’s Cycling. 

PERSONAL TRAINING STUDIO

Take advantage of an extra line of support with individual or partner personal training sessions designed to help you meet your health and wellness goals.

WELLNESS LOUNGE/COFFEE BAR

Meet someone new, relax and read the paper or a magazine, enjoy a game of chess or checkers, or catch up with a friend while enjoying a cup of coffee.

FREE WEIGHT AREA

Incorporate strength training into your routine with over 15 unique machines, dumbbells, bars and kettlebells.

CARDIO AND WEIGHT TRAINING AREA

Track workouts, connect to your favorite media platforms on the Matrix Cardio equipment and experiment in a safe way with weight training machines.

FUNCTIONAL TRAINING AREA

Perform body weight exercises with TRX functional training equipment, battle ropes and a punching bag. Incorporate abdominal and full body movements through medicine ball and kettlebell routines.

At the Y, creating a safe and welcoming environment is a team effort. We ask everyone—staff, members and guests—to follow our Code of Conduct, which is based on our core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

  1. Speak in respectful tones, refrain from the use of vulgar or derogatory language and dress appropriately.
  2. Resolve conflicts in a respectful, honest and caring manner never resorting to physical contact or threatening gestures.
  3. Respect others by refraining from intimate behavior while at the Y.
  4. Respect the property of others, never engaging in theft or destruction.
  5. Create a safe, caring environment, never carrying weapons of any kind.
  6. Participate in programs to build a healthy spirit, mind and body, never engaging in the use, sale, dispensing or possession of illegal drugs or narcotics, or the use of alcohol or tobacco on YMCA premises.
Dress Code

Please embrace the family friendly environment of our YMCA.  We ask that everyone using the facility wear appropriate attire; t-shirts or tank tops that cover the chest and midriff area (no bare midriffs OR no bare side waist exposure) and pants or shorts that provide full coverage and that are not see through.  Close-toed shoes must be worn on the second floor at all times.  Clothing with profane or offensive images and/or words are prohibited. We ask that you reserve your swimming attire for the aquatic/pool areas.  The YMCA reserves the right to define inappropriate dress when necessary.

NATIONWIDE MEMBERSHIP

ANOTHER GREAT REASON TO JOIN THE YMCA!
  • Visitors must use their home Y at least 50% of the time
  • Valid for active, full facility YMCA members whose home Y participates without restriction or blackout periods  
  • Program-only participants (Renew Active, Active & Fit, & Silver & Fit or other like programs) are not eligible
  • Special memberships established by any Y for group homes, other agencies, etc., are not eligible
  • When visiting a Y, nationwide members will be required to show a valid YMCA membership card and photo ID as well as provide basic membership data such as name and email address
  • Members will need to sign a universal liability waiver and privacy policy
  • Ys should allow nationwide members access to services typically offered to full-facility members. Check with the Y for schedule and availability 
  • Nationwide members visiting other Ys for a period greater than 28 days must transfer membership affiliation for continued use
  • All Ys reserve the right to restrict or revoke these privileges
  • Registered sex offenders are prohibited from participating

Note: There are third-party companies that falsely claim they can manage changes to your Y membership for a fee. These companies are not affiliated with the Y and often mislead individuals for profit. You never have to pay to change or cancel your membership.
