FREE EMERGENCY CHILD CARE AVAILABLE

To be eligible for this program, parents must be employees of restaurants, grocery stores, a healthcare entity, law enforcement, first responders (EMS, Fire Departments, etc.), corrections officers, military, activated national guard, human and social services workers, postal workers, transportation employees and Eastman employees. 

Throughout the Y’s history, we have been called upon to provide critical services during challenging or uncertain times. Many Tennessee YMCAs have been contacted by community leaders and emergency services about providing childcare for mission-critical staff.

With the support and assistance of local public health officials, and the approval by: Gary Mayes- Executive Director , and Dr. May- Medical Director, from the Sullivan County Health Department, the Greater Kingsport Family YMCA is offering  FREE modified childcare for:

• Restaurant Employees
• Grocery Store Employees
• Health Care Employees
• First Responders
• Corrections Officers
• Military
• Active National Guard
• Human and Social Services Employees
• Transportation Employees
• Postal Employees 
• Eastman Employees

During this program, our hope is that kids will maintain some normalcy, enjoying crafts, songs, games, homework packet help and much needed fun under the supervision of experienced Y childcare staff and in alignment with state and federal mandates, following safe standards with regards to staff-to-child ratios. 

Currently, The Kingsport YMCA is the only DHS registered childcare option available for 3 year olds through all of school-aged kids in the 8 county region of Northeast Tennessee.

This program is available, AT NO ADDITIONAL COST, to working parents and families who NEED child care services — We will take extraordinary precautions: kids will sanitize hands upon arrival and throughout the day, groups will be sized for proper spacing, our staff will monitor children and look for symptoms of COVID-19 and our facilities will be cleaned using CDC approved disinfectants daily. Enrollment will be limited to our physical space and staffing capacity under current CDC guidelines.

• We are in need of hand sanitizer and pre-packaged healthy snacks for the kids and would appreciate any donations at this time
  

The information and materials needed to register for Emergency Child Care can be found below. We will take payment and temperatures upon arrival. If you are unable to print/scan back, then email in your name and basic information about your children per the application. We will hold your spot and you can complete materials on site during drop off.
