Across the United States, more than 500,000 business leaders, community advocates, parents, teens and individuals who want to give back and support their neighbors volunteer at the Y. That’s because in 10,000 neighborhoods nationwide we have the presence and partnerships to not just promise, but deliver positive, personal and social change.
With a focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, Y volunteers give men, women and children of all ages and from all walks of life the resources and support they need to be healthy, confident, connected and secure.

Building/Grounds - Do you have a skill set to help build, repair or maintain? Do you like to be hands on? With so many members there is always something to detail or build! Assist with light duty maintenance, landscape assistance or special projects.
If you like to help on an occasional basis by participating in opportunities to give back to others through events, this might be the place for you! The Y has many chances throughout the year for you to offer your area of skill and expertise. One of the biggest events of the year is our Annual Healthy Kids Day, which offers kids and families a free community day to learn about and celebrate healthy lifestyle choices.
Social Responsibility and volunteerism go hand-in-hand. This connection involves coming alongside our neighbors and helping to make a difference in our community! Our hope is to have a focus on giving back both internally and externally. Starting this August, we implemented a Social Responsibility team committed to attending monthly events with a local organization. This is an excellent way to give back in a meaningful way.
Policy volunteers are those that might lead on our Board of Directors, any one of our Y committees, help raise funds to ensure the Y stays accessible to all, or might even advocate for the Y's efforts to influence policies and initiatives that positively impact societal issues of importance to our community, such as support the Healthy Kingsport committee.
As the leading nonprofit for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, the Y works side-by-side with our neighbors every day to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. To do our important work, the Y relies on support from members, donors, volunteers and community leaders.
When you are involved with the Y, you help bring about lasting personal and social change. Whether you want to nurture the potential of children and teens, improve your or your family’s health and well-being, or give back and support your neighbors, your involvement with the Y will positively impact those in your community.
