We all have comfort zones in our life, but have you wondered if you’re still in love with yours or if there’s more for you? At the Y, we work hard to offer you the resources and guidance to improve your health and wellness and expand your boundaries, so you can lead the fullest life possible; meeting you at your level and at ANY age.
One way the Y goes the extra mile is by making personal training an option for reaching your wellness goals, no matter how large or small. We all need the advice of an expert sometimes, as well as the personal attention that comes with a trainer or coach. Personal training at the Y is about taking you to the next level in your wellness journey, but maybe in different ways than you thought possible.

To kick-start physical activity and learning now and throughout the summer – a critical out-of-school time for kids – on Saturday, April 30, the Greater Kingsport Family YMCA is celebrating Healthy Kids Day® with a free community event for kids and families. YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day, the Y’s national initiative to improve families’ health and well-being, features games, healthy snacks, arts and crafts and more to motivate and teach families how to develop a healthy routine at home. Because this type of initiative is so important in educating and encouraging families, Healthy Kingsport is supporting the attendance by families of our community.

Summer break can mean many things for different kids and families. At the Y, summer means Camp time (Day Camp, Specialty Camp, and HYPE Middle School Camp)—a positive, fun-filled spin on long days, which influences spirit, mind and body. When you enroll in YMCA Camp this summer, you can do so knowing the Y offers a unique and unforgettable experience. Others have asked, “What’s your secret?” The Y doesn’t have secrets, but works hard to hire the right counselors into the Y family to build relationships and a welcoming environment to all.

With the holidays right around the corner, most are also familiar with the potential detours to healthy efforts which arise in this season. For several years, the Kingsport YMCA has issued a challenge called Dashing All the Weigh. A six week, activity based challenge, the goal has been to maintain or lose weight during this tough time to stay on track—from Thanksgiving through New Year’s. While that’s a goal in 2015 (although recording your weight before/after with us is optional), we also ask that you discover new ways to reach 150 minutes of weekly physical activity for these six weeks.
